A four-part journey through winter, self-care & herbal making
Go inward. Get grounded. Make something beautiful. Build your health sovereignty.
Four seasonal gatherings designed to help you slow down, reconnect with yourself and others, and develop practical tools for supporting your mental and physical wellbeing through the winter months.
Along the way, you'll learn about a handful of locally grown, wildcrafted, and traditional herbs and use them to create your own teas, oils, bath preparations, tinctures, foods, and other home herbal preparations.
But this isn't a traditional herbalism course.
It's a practice of coming home to yourself.
The outlines below are tentative in terms of the products themselves, as we will likely make more than what is outlined here.
------------------------------------------
The four-month arc
JANUARY — GOING INWARD
Winter as a season of reflection, release & renewal
Rather than fighting winter, what happens when we allow ourselves to move at a different pace?
We'll use the beginning of the year as an opportunity to reflect on the season behind us:
- What nourished me?
- What depleted me?
- What am I carrying that I don't want to carry forward?
- What do I want more of?
- What does my body need this season?
- What would it feel like to care for myself differently?
We'll explore winter as a natural invitation to slow down, listen inward, and make space.
Plant allies
We'll introduce a handful of herbs connected to grounding, nourishment, warmth, rest, and winter wellbeing.
We'll make
Berry Electuary
Dehydrated local berries from the previous season + local honey.
Rosemary Scalp Oil
A beautiful sensory self-care preparation that brings attention back to the body.
Winter Nervous System Tea
Tulsi · dried berries · anise hyssop
And we'll begin building each person's Wild Healing Herbal Profile and personal apothecary binder.
------------------------------------------
FEBRUARY — SELF-LOVE
Coming home to yourself
February is usually marketed as a month of romantic love.
What would it mean to build a loving relationship with yourself?
We'll explore self-compassion, embodied self-awareness, personal wellbeing, and the difference between taking care of yourself and performing wellness.
We'll create space to consider:
- What does my body need from me?
- How do I know when I'm depleted?
- What makes me feel safe, nourished, and connected?
- Where am I asking too much of myself?
- What practices actually make me feel like myself?
Plant allies
Rose
Beauty, sensory connection, affection, tenderness.
Hawthorn
Heart-centered herbal traditions.
Motherwort
A fascinating plant for exploring traditional approaches to women's wellbeing and the relationship between body and emotional experience.
Turkey Tail
An opportunity to explore mushrooms, resilience, and the fascinating world of fungi.
We'll make
This month could have a choose-your-own self-care apothecary component.
A botanical bath soak
with choices like:
- dried herbs
- powdered honey
- clay
- colloidal oats
- essential oils
- salts
- botanical powders
We'll discuss the use of scent and olfaction as an emotional cue — how deliberately choosing sensory experiences can help create moments of comfort, grounding, pleasure, or transition.
------------------------------------------
MARCH — FOOD IS MEDICINE
Nourishment, pleasure & the wisdom of the kitchen
Food is not simply fuel. Food is culture. Food is pleasure. Food is memory. Food is community.
And the kitchen has always been one of the places humans have worked with plants.
We'll explore the relationship between nourishment and wellbeing and ask: What happens when caring for ourselves becomes something we actually enjoy?
Plant allies
Thyme
Oregano
Basil
Plus locally grown/wildcrafted berries and other seasonal ingredients.
We'll make
Berry-Infused Honey
Homemade Bitters
Fire Cider
Cough Syrup
... and you'll continue building out your herbal binder

APRIL — AWAKENING
We've spent three months: going inward → reconnecting with yourself → nourishing yourself
Now: It's time to emerge.
From winter into spring
We'll explore transition, renewal, energy, growth, and what we're ready to bring into the next season.
And this is where we turn toward growing.
What do you want to cultivate?
Not just in your garden.
In your life.
We'll explore
- What am I ready to grow?
- What do I want to bring forward?
- What do I want to leave behind?
- What kind of environment helps me thrive?
- What plants do I want to cultivate?
- What would a garden designed around my wellbeing look like?
The practical component
Each participant begins creating their own: Personal Apothecary Garden Plan
Based on:
- their space
- light
- soil
- growing conditions
- interests
- physical wellbeing goals
- emotional wellbeing goals
- culinary interests
- sensory preferences
- plants they're excited about
And they leave with seeds / planting materials to begin bringing that vision into reality. This may also include a planting workshop with Urban Fresh Farm, where we get to seed our seedlings there and they'll tend to them until they're ready to plant in our very own gardens.
------------------------------------------
Your BinderL Your Wild Healing Herbal Companion
Every participant receives a beautiful binder that they build throughout the series.
